# Ex Parte Motion for Publication This form is used to ask a court for permission to serve legal papers on someone by publishing a notice in a newspaper instead of delivering it to them directly, typically when the person's location is unknown or cannot be found. Someone who is trying to start or continue a lawsuit would use this form when they have made a good-faith effort to find the defendant but cannot locate them to properly notify them of the case.
