The DV-700 is used to ask a court to extend a temporary domestic violence restraining order into a longer-lasting one that can protect someone for up to five years. Someone who has an existing temporary restraining order protecting them from abuse, threats, or harassment by a current or former intimate partner would need to file this form to keep that protection in place after the temporary order expires.
