This form allows people who were convicted of certain drug possession or theft crimes before Proposition 47 became law in 2014 to ask a court to reduce their sentence or change their conviction to a lighter offense. Someone would use this form if they were already in prison or jail for a crime that would now be treated as a less serious offense under the new law.
