This form is used by people who were convicted of certain drug possession or theft crimes to ask the court to reduce their conviction to a misdemeanor or dismiss their case entirely under California's Proposition 47 law. Someone would need this form if they have an old conviction for a non-violent crime like simple drug possession or shoplifting that qualifies under Prop 47 and they want to have their record improved.
