This form is used by someone who was convicted of a felony to ask the court to reduce that felony conviction down to a misdemeanor, which would result in a lighter sentence and fewer long-term consequences. A person would need this form if they believe they qualify under state law (such as California's Proposition 47) to have their conviction downgraded and want to ask a judge to make that change.
